The Argus Appeal South Downs Way Challenge 2010
May 7th, 8th and 9th, 2010 We kick of our season of charity bike rides by running our popular South Downs Way Challenge under the normal format of three days and for the real enthusiast, we are also running a separate event over two days on the same weekend and you can take part, safe in the knowledge that EVERY penny you raise in sponsorship on one of our charity bike events, goes directly to charity, unlike so many other charities.
This charity off-road cycle event across the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne is now in its eighth year having raised over a quarter million pounds for local charities. It is a unique opportunity to cycle the entire South Downs Way taking in the fresh air and stunning views of Hampshire and Sussex (traffic free!) All cyclists are looked after by our dedicated support teams, providing two daily checkpoints and providing evening meals. Accommodation is via campsites in Brighton and Midhurst. This year there are two separate rides, the normal three day event and new for 2010 'The South Downs Devil' over two days for the more experienced rider. The registration fee is *£75. *A minimum sponsorship of £150 applies. Contact: Alison Smith on 01273 544401. Email southdowns@theargus.co.uk or log onto:http://www.theargus.co.uk/argusappeal/latestappealnews for more details. About the Argus Appeal: The Argus Appeal is the charity of the Argus newspaper and in 2010 we are celebrating 52 years of giving to those in need in our community of Sussex. It is working in the heart of our community that enables us to see first hand who is in need.
We pride ourselves on having supporters who trust the integrity of our work, the honesty with which we tell our stories and the decisions we make when allocating funds.
Our objectives are: To give assistance to those in need throughout our community by providing funds for a variety of benefits and causes, in particular disadvantaged children, the elderly, the vulnerable, people with disabilities and any other person group or charity considered by the trustees to be appropriate for a fund allocation which will make a difference. |
