| The not-for-profit cycle organisation bringing cycle awareness to motorists, councils, pedestrians, cyclists.... |
Cycle News Tuesday, March 01, 2005003 I'd Rather CycleWe have received this email and I'd Rather Cycle are backing this one (and joining in!)View the map | View the flyer A small group of us are planning a ride from Holyhead to Newport over four days late in May, to help raise much needed funds for St David’s Foundation Hospice Care. That is why we are calling upon every cycling club (touring or competing), cycling organisation and group however big or small, whatever the abilities, however much time they have available. We are looking for cyclists to join us either for the 263-mile trip, or as support riders along the way. We believe that it would be a great day-out for any members of the local clubs we will be passing along the way. Of course, if anyone is interested in doing the whole route with us, we are very eager to hear from you. We will be more or less following the National Cycle Network Route No. 4 (Holyhead to Cardiff), with a few variations, and with a finish in Newport instead of Cardiff. The route is demanding but rewarding, and well within the capabilities of the average casual cyclist. The motivation received from fresh legs coming on the scene each day is difficult to quantify and great therapy for tired limbs, so we ask you to read the attached documents (consisting of one map and one leaflet) and strongly consider joining us. We would be very grateful to you if you could mention us to the members of your club or maybe forward this email to people you think might be interested. Just think of the fantastic sight if a good number of clubs join us, even if it’s just for the final day from Brecon to Newport, and help us bring our trip to a close with a lap of the track in the Dalmo in Newport. We also believe that if it was to happen in an impressive finish it could also be good for the cycling cause. For further details please contact us by Email or post.
