Cycle News Thursday, September 30, 2004College takes stepsStudents at a city college are being urged to put their best feet forward - and try out the walk which is being built to their new premises.Matthew Boulton College is organising a sponsored walk and cycle ride from its base in Sherlock Street, Highgate, to its new home at Eastside, next to Millennium Point. The walk takes place tomorrow as part of the annual West Midlands Travelwise Week, which aims to raise awareness of sustainable transport such as cycling, walking and public transport. The new college, which will form part of a new Eastside Learning Quarter, is due to open in Jennens Road in September 2005. Some students have already signed up to measure their steps using pedometers, while all participants will receive a complimentary bottle of mineral water from sponsors Asda. They will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a mountain bike and keen cyclists will get free safety checks. Participants should go to the Sherlock Street campus for a 12.30pm start.
