Cycle News Wednesday, November 24, 2004Cycle leaves Islington; moves to OctoberThe show owned by the Business Design Centre will be held at ExCeL in Docklands, London. To avoid a clash with the September Interbike, Cycle 2005 will be staged 12-16th October.Bicycle shows in the UK are in flux once again. Bike has left Brum, now Cycle has left the BDC, home to the show since it was founded in 2002. David Hyde's trade shows may have a public element in 2005 and eight high-end niche suppliers have launched their own trade show. Cycle's date change has been expected. Interbike, Las Vegas, plumped for the same September dates Cycle would have chosen. But the choice of venue is a surprise. Most trade commentators were expecting a move to Olympia, a venue formerly owned by the Morris family, owners of the Business Design Centre in Islington. ExCel is hosting the Max Power car show this weekend. The venue can stage big consumer shows: the Boat Show attracted 230 000 visitors. http://www.exhibition-conference-centre.co.uk/ (Source: http://www.bikebiz.co.uk) |
