Cycle News Tuesday, September 20, 2005Fundraising Ride with Sean KellyBraveheart Fundraising Ride with Sean Kelly and Guests - Saturday 22nd October 2005 Queen Margaret Academy - Ayr - Registration from 9.00AMThe Braveheart Cycling Fund have teamed up with Sean Kelly to promote a fund raising ride through the Ayrshire countryside. There will be two distances 30miles and 50 miles with various groups to cater for all abilities including novices and youths. The event will be organised by the Girvan 3 Day International bike race organising committee and will include Changing Accomodation, Parking, Motorbike marshalls, Static marshalls, First Aid Stations, Service stations and everything you would expect from a professional event. The routes for the two distances have been confirmed by the police this week and are available to view on our website.The routes and the terrains have been chosen to provide sensible conditions for October.The objective of the day is to give everyone of all abilities the chance to ride alongside one of the Greatest Racing Cyclists ever. Sean Kelly is a 3 time winner of Paris - Roubaix and Multiple Classics winner including the Milan - San Remo, Liege - Bastogne - Liege and the Tour of Lombardy. Kelly was also a 4 time winner of the Green Jersey in the Tour de France and also went on to win the Tour of Spain (Vuelta). At the height of his career he was ranked the number 1 rider in the world for over 5 consecutive years. Already confirmed to take part in the ride with Kelly are Olympic Champion Chris Hoy, former world record holder Graeme O'bree and former Motorola professional and teammate of Lance Armstrong, Brian Smith founder of the Braveheart Fund.
