Cycle News Thursday, September 30, 2004Total staff get on their bikesFUEL giant Total has told its employees to "get on their bikes".The message is part of an initiative launched by the firm to help the environment and boost the fitness of employees. Total UK has today urged its 400 Watford employees to support its Pedal Power, a cycle safety scheme designed to help improve staff fitness while keeping the local environment clean. Employees signing up to the Pedal Power initiative will receive up to a 50 per cent discount on the price of a new bicycle from Halfords, with their payments spread over 18 months. Total sees the initiative as an excellent way of reducing the number of cars on the road, as part of its commitment to conserving energy and protecting the local environment. With safety also being an important priority, the company will be supporting the initiative by giving employees ten per cent of the bike's value in free safety equipment, such as a helmet or lights, as well as a free high visibility safety pack. In conjunction with Hertfordshire County Council, Total is also running a series of cycle safety and maintenance sessions at its offices in Clarendon Road, to keep staff safe on the roads (Source: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/localnews/display.var.530957.0.total_staff_get_on_their_bikes.php) |
